CASCADE PARK VISTA:

There's the sweetest group of people working here and that really means a lot. The staff is so caring and so much fun! They always let you know they care.

The atmosphere and people here are very friendly. And I love the view from my apartment. I can see both the [Puget] Sound and Mt. Rainier, as well as the ships going in and out of the Port. I really enjoy it here.

CASCADE PARK ACTIVE DAY:

My grandmother goes to Active Day. It is a wonderful opportunity for her to get out and socialize with a variety of different people. It gives the caretakers a break.

In my Adult Family Home, I have a resident named Bill who attends Cascade Park's Active Day Program three days a week. Although he has never said so, I'm sure that one of the things that Bill likes about the program is the opportunity to be with "the guys" (besides Bill, we also care for five ladies in our home). Bill was enrolled in the program almost two years ago when there were nine participants.
As the program grew, so did Bill's ability to interact with other people. The fear and apprehension that Bill once felt about being among large groups of people has literally vanished. Bill now proudly boasts that there are 23 people enrolled in his program. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Bill is up at 5:30 AM to make sure that he is on time for his 8:30 AM Para-Transit pick up. He just can't wait to get to his program ! I never have to worry about Bill getting to or from the program since the staff at Active Day keeps me informed if there are scheduling delays or cancellations. I also know that he is being well fed since he can describe down to the last crumb what was on the lunch menu. Regardless of his Developmental Disability, At Active Day, Bill continues to learn new skills and new ways to relate how he is feeling. This is so helpful in caring for him since it makes it easier to find how to fix what is wrong if he'll talk about it. In addition to the benefits received from exercise and the monitoring of Bill's physical well being, his Mental Health is equally important. I strongly believe that if a person feels good about their self and there place in the world, they are less prone to illness and the effects of depression. To sum it up, Active Day helps Bill feel great! Keep up the great work !!

CASCADE PARK GARDENS:

This is home. I was in the hospital for a year, and I was glad to come back. I had many choices of where to go, but I wanted to go where I belong, so I came back here.
